Must Be Nice

Ughh..I was at target tonight in the medicine aisle, which happens to be next to the aisle with all the pregnancy tests and overheard the following question from a man who was with his wife and their baby: "why the hell do you need a 5 pack of pregnancy tests, in case you can't figure out how to read the first four?"

You don't know how badly I wanted to jump over the aisle and say something (actually most of you probably do know)

Must be nice to not know what it feels like to pee on over 100 pregnancy tests and still not see a positive

Must be nice to only have to take one...

  1. Um, yeah. Before this IVF I caved and bought the 25 pack of cheap tests off the internet :) I don't even want to think about how much I spent on tests before then.

But really, I just envy people who get to stay naive. I wish I could be that way too. Maybe with a little more empathy.

  2. AAAAAAHHHHHHH! I don't think I could have stopped myself. Jerk. Ok I'm just jealous. Wish that the 2 boxes I peed on this past week had one test that confused me. But nope. They were definites. People.

  3. They probably got pregnant "just by looking at each other." Smug butt-heads.

  4. :( Many people don't realize how supremely lucky they are not to have to ever think about needing more than one pregnancy test!

  5. I wish none of us knew the answer to his question. Hugz!

  6. Ugh, what an idiot. Sometimes I just want to close my ears when I'm out in public. Too many stupids roaming free. XO

  7. I'm sorry you had to overhear that. I don't know about you, but I KNOW I was probably that person years ago. I'm sure some poor infertile overheard me at some point spouting off about not wanting kids (yes, I went through a phase) or not using any kind of assistance, or not using pain meds in the delivery process, or having a home birth or ... the list goes on. I'm sure I said stupid shit that hurt someone - without meaning to. Despite the empathy I have gained, I do very much wish I could back to those days when life was easier and fertility was "not going to be a problem, my periods are so regular." HA!

  8. Stupid people. I have a box of 20 that I will shamelessly use all of. I agree with Sometimes above; I wish I could go back to the days when I was naive enough to think regular periods made regular, easy pregnancies!
